Challenges of Hong Kong Luxury Hotels Facing Nowadays Hong Kong, as a Special Administrative Region of China, is a popular destination for travelers from Mainland China and also other countries (Tasci, Denizci, 2010). Tourism is one of the pillar industries of Hong Kong’s economy, and has made significant contribution in recent decades. One of the main elements of this rapidly growing industry is the hotel industry, which is also flourishing in Hong Kong with plenty of hotels for visitors. However, with the changing traveling patterns of the tourists, the hotels especially the luxury ones are being presented with great challenges. The growing generation, Generation Y, represents the young people and the majority of the consumers. They have a new concept of consumption, with high expectation and are more demanding (Palmer, 2009). As Barsky and Nash (2011) state, Generation Y stands for most emotional, the least loyal, and least satisfied customers. Moreover, while the previous generations may still regard good interpersonal service a necessity, younger guests may weigh the face-to-face service less. Question: Write a Report on Herbal Medicine. Answer: Introduction The action category that has been selected for the present report is Laxatives. The three herbs that would be considered for the assignment are Senna Alexandrina, Frangula Purshiana and Rheum Palmatum, a comparison and contrast between whom would be the subject of the report. Senna Alexandrina Medicinally active plant part- The dried leaflets and dried fruits of the plant are used for medicinal purpose. Active constituents- The active ingredients are the numerous Senna glycosides, steroisomers of Sennoside A and B. They are glycosides of arhein anthronemolecule, binding to each other in pairs. Other than this the other bioactive molecules are Emodin, Aloe-emodin, Flavonoids and Napthalene (Ajayi et al., 2014). Secondary herbal actions and mechanisms of action- The drug acts by acting with the immune cells in the colon. There are two mechanisms by which the Senna products exerts pro-motility effects. Stool softening effects are undertaken by modifying the intestinal contractions for favouring peristalsis and by inducing the excess secretion of electrolytes into the colon which increases the water content of the colon. Therapeutic indications- It is used as a laxative. The drug is effective in clearing the bowels and also possess action capability due to which it is used at times before a colonoscopy. In addition, it acts as a fungicide. Potential safety issues ie: cautions, contra-indications and interactions- If this herb is accidently consumed by infants, it leads to serious side effects such as severe diaper rash. Gastrointestinal cramps are rare. Prolonged ingestion can lead to electrolyte balance and presence of protein and blood in the urine. Preparation- The herb is used in the form of chopped leaves or powdered leaves. In addition, it can also be used as herbal tea (Tomlinson Akerele, 2015). Dosage recommendations- For proper clinical usage, the accurate dose required for producing the desired effect is the lowest dose. This is indicated by comfortable and sost-fromed stool. This refers to 1-2 gm of the powdered extract standardised to 10-30 mg active Sennosides. Frangula Purshiana Medicinally active plant part- The bark of the plant is used as a very effective laxative. Active constituents- The constituens that are chiefly responsible for the medicinal action are the Emodin and hydroxyanthracene glycosides. Secondary herbal actions and mechanisms of action- A number of quinoid substances are found in the bark of the plant. The hydroxyanthracene glycosideshave the herbal ation by working as a stimulant laxative. The peristalsis in the colon is excited by these stimulant effects. This thereby triggers peristalsis through inhibiton of the absorption of electrolytes and water in the large intestine. As a result of this action, the volume of the bowels content increases, giving rise to increased pressure. Therapeutic indications- The main use of the herb is as a laxative. Some studies have shown the anti-cancer effects of the drug (Cirillo Capasso, 2015). Potential safety issues ie: cautions, contra-indications and interactions- The herb is to be used for a short duration and not longer than a week. Pregnant women and lactating women must not be consuming this drug since the infant might suffer adverse impacts. In addition, people with irritable bowel syndrome,Crohn's disease, appendicitis, colitis,hemorrhoids,orkidneyproblems must not use this drug. Preparation- Once the bark is taken out from the tree, it is to eb aged for over one year before it is fit for use. The reason is that bark that is freshly cut leads to violent dirrhea and vomiting. The drying is to be done at low temperatures for a number of hours if the process is to be carried out fast. Active constituents- The roots of the plant have anthraquinone glycosides and dianthrone glycosides,that act as laxative. Further, they aso have fatty acids, fructose, glucose and starch. Secondary herbal actions and mechanisms of action- The herb works by increasing peristalsis and inhibiting water absorption. This promotes defecation (Meier et al., 2017). Therapeutic indications- The root of the plant is used for curing stomach ailements ssuch as dysentery and diarrhea, and relieving severe constipation. In addition, it is also used as a poultice for edema and fevers. The herb is widely used due to its astringent capabilities and as a laxative. Further, the antibacterial properties make it a medicine for shringles, hypertention, burn, appendicitis, conjunctivitis, swelling of gum and mouth sores. Potential safety issues ie: cautions, contra-indications and interactions- If consumed in high dose, the drug leads to poisonous effect. This is due to the fact that the oxalic acid crystals lead to health risks. Patients suffering from kidney problems, arthritis, intestinal obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease must not take this drug. Further, pregnant women are to avoid the drug. Adverse impacts might include abdominal pain, griping, nausea, vomittng and hypertrophy of the liver. Preparation- The rhizomes of the plant are removed when the plant is about ten years old. The crown and the lateral roots are to be removed and the debris are to be cleaned. After the exterior bark is removed the root is to be cut into pieces and the dried. I had no clue what that was and where it was until a light hinted in my head and told me that it was on handles. I then I pressed it lightly and noticed I began to slow down, but what I didn’t see is that I was running into a tree. So I shifted the direction in less that two seconds and avoided the front of my body from being injured. I was then happy because I didn’t break a single bone in my body and nothing hurt. Shortly I look at my leg and see that I have scraped the back end of my leg from the tree. Right when I began to notice this scratch is when everything began to start hurting. As I hurried back to the house, I noticed that the rest of the guys were playing basketball, so instead I just went inside and asked Mr. Callahan if he had any band aids anywhere, which he did. So I went into the restroom, washed the cut off with water, and then carefully placed it onto the cut. I was very upset that I couldn’t engage in the activity with the rest of the guys, but I did learn something from all of this. People make mistakes, and the purpose of them is to learn from them in life. Because when it comes right down to it, no one is perfect; it is how we are different which is what makes life fascinating.

Children in foster homes and orphanages have enough problems without have to deal with having homosexual parents. Other children and adult for something that they cannot control will persecute them, but their parents can. Even if they attend church they will not get the main Christian value of family. The biggest problem of all is that they might end up thinking that homosexuality is OK or even good, and that is just terrible. All children need the influence of a mother and father (Gay Parent online Magazine). Unfortunately, some children are not able to receive this because of death, divorce, or abandonment, but some just miss out on this because of two greedy homosexuals who what to have their cake and eat it two. The safety of the children is also in question when kids are placed with homosexuals. Forty percent of child molesters are homosexual, and they only represent ten percent of the population (Statistics website). This fact alone should make anyone want to outlaw homosexual adoptions. Also one of the nations foremost psychologist's Dr. Laura Schlessinger says that same sex parenting in "despicable" and "a huge portion of the male homosexual populace is predatory on young boys"(Newsweek 52). When many people listen to music from earlier periods, they classify it all as classical music, when although there were many periods of music. Although the two may sound similar to the untrained ear, the Baroque style and the Classical styles of music have many differences. The Baroque Period (1600-1750) was a revolutionary period for music. Preceded by the renaissance, the Baroque Period offered new and different things to music. Common tools were used such as counterpoint and fugue that transformed music.There was a growth in the uses of new Instruments such as the trumpet, French horn, and piano. Composers, such as Johan Sebastian Bach, concentrated on what the music notes lead to and what sounded good to listen to. There are infinite volumes written about this character because Shakespeare leaves no firm proof of many of his character traits. Yet on Hamlet's antic disposition, meaning his obviously absurd temperament or madness, Shakespeare leaves plenty of reason to believe that it is feigned, meaning that it is simply a ploy to help Hamlet carry out his plans for revenge. It is feigned, meaning that it is faked, merely put on as a faà §ade. This is denoted in various aspects of his antic disposition. Hamlet's antic disposition is self imposed, meaning that he himself decides to appear "mad", assuming the antic disposition willingly because he thinks it meet. It is methodical because there is a system to it. He is able to turn it on and off when he has reason for it; other characters in the play notice it and Hamlet himself states it. Finally, Hamlet's madness is also clever because it allows him to express himself and his thoughts clearly, and through comments full of wit that show his awareness of reality when he mocks other characters in their faces without their noticing. Therefore, Hamlet's antic disposition is not true madness; rather it is feigned because it is self imposed, methodical and clever.    Hamlet's antic disposition is self imposed, meaning that he chooses to impose this disposition upon himself. He willingly appears to be mad in order to obtain all he wants. This comes up in the situation after Hamlet has seen his father's ghost and is with Horatio and Marcellus. He, on this occasion warns them that he does "think meet to put an antic d... ... and off at his will, being it a means for an end. This again, shows that the madness is feigned because true madness lacks method. Finally, the cleverness of his madness shows it to be feigned because he expresses his true opinions through the madness, being able to even mock others willingly, a characteristic that clearly renders his madness fake. Shakespeare lets us know that his main character is mad through all these proofs he leaves behind. I remember, not to long a observing some of my student sitting at a play table eating pretend snacks that they made along with drinks, I asked the kids what they made, which allowed me to see if they knew what their snack was that they made. Playing different games and activities is an effective method for learning and it also demonstrates cognitive learning where the child connects with and identifies while playing. Globalization is a term that includes a wide range of social and economic variations. It can encompass topics like the cultural changes, economics, finance trends, and global market expansion. There ought to be positive and negative effects of globalization – it all comes as a package. With all these coupling factors, capital was on the verge of flying out of the country and we were on the brink of become loan defaulters. It was at this time that with so many bottlenecks at bay, a complete overhauling of the economic system was required. Policies and programs changed accordingly. This was the best time for us to realize the importance of globalization. MEASURE OF GLOBALIZATION Devaluation: The first initiative towards globalization had been taken the moment there was an announcement of devaluating the Indian currency by a hoping 18-19% against all the major global currencies. This was a major initiative in the international foreign exchange arena. The Balance of payment crisis could also be resolved by this measure. Disinvestment: The core elements of globalization are privatization and liberalization. Under the privatization scheme, bulk of the public sector undertakings have been/ and are still being sold to the private sector. Thus the concept of PPP (public private partnership) came up. Allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI): Allowing FDI inflows is a major step of globalization. The foreign investment regime has been quite transparent and thus the economy is getting boosted up. Various sectors were opened up for liberalizing the FDI regime. For successful globalization countries need to chalk out strategies and policies to open up the doors for the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI). The FDI by the MNCs brings with it flow of foreign capital, inflow of technology’ real capital goods, managerial and technical skills and know-how. Globalization can easily promote exports of the country by exploiting its export potentials in a right way. Globalization can be the engine of growth by facilitating export-led growth strategy of a developing country. ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have demonstrated their success of export-led growth strategy supported by the FDI under globalization approach. Globalization can provide sophisticated job opportunities to the qualified and also check ‘brain drain’ in a country. Globalization would provide varieties of products to consumer at a cheaper rate when they are domestically produced rather than imported. This would help in improving the economic welfare of the consumer class. Under globalization, the rising inflow of capital would bring foreign exchange into the country. Consequently, the exchange reserves and balances of payments position of the country can improve. This also helps in stabilizing the external value of the country’s currency. Under global finance, companies can meet their financial requirements easily. Global banking sector could facilitate e-banking and e-business. This would integrate countries economy globally and its prosperity would be enhanced. DEMERITS OF GLOBALISATION: Globalization is never accepted as unmixed blenings. Cities have pessimistic views about its ill-consequences. When a country is opened up and its market economy and financial sectors are well iberalized, its domestic economy may suffer owing to foreign economic invasion. A developing economy when lacks sufficient maturity, globalization may have adverse effect on its growth. Globalization may kill domestic industries when they fail to improve and compete foreign well-managed, well-established firms. Globalization may result into economic imperialism. Unguarded openness may become a playground for speculators. Currency speculation and speculators att acks, as happened in case of Indonesia, Malaysia Thailand, Philippines etc recently may led to economic crisis. It may lead to unemployment, poverty and growing economic inequalities. Despite its some shortcomings, benefits of globalization are likely to outweigh their drawbacks. Globalization essentially provides greater opportunities for the faster growth and economic development of the country and improve economic welfare. It provides wider and large-scale economic activities and employment opportunities. In a planned economy such as India, an indicative planning of desirable globalization process can be great use. India’s perspective planning for foreign investments and entry of MNC’s should be positive towards modernization of India. Besides, Research and Development (R&D) as well as technological up gradobious should be an integral part of India’s liberalized planning towards market economy. In short, globalization implies undeterred business activities and interaction among the firms and people with a global approach. It needs change in the outlook. It requires relaxing of control and regulations. It is heartening to note that an awareness of the government in India is on this line. Relief to foreign investors, new industrial policy, new trade policy, new fiscal policy, banking reforms, FERA and MRTP relaxation, acceptance of WTO agreements etc all suggest a positive out look of Indian policy-makers towards globalization. Indian government has assumed the role of promoter, care taker and regulator of market economy in the country in a desirable manner. Journey has begun. Destination is yet far. Perspective Although the social science literature on globalization has proliferated, social policy and social work scholars have not adequately debated the consequences of globalization for social welfare and social justice. Drawing on different social science interpretations of globalization, four major perspectives that offer different analytical and normative insights into globalization are identified and their implications for social welfare and social justice are briefly examined. The implications of these perspectives for social policy and social work scholarship are also considered. The concept of globalization is widely used today not only in the social sciences but in journalism and popular discourse. However, it is still poorly defined. Although loosely employed to connote the processes of social change that are affecting social relations between people living in the world's different nation states, the nature of these processes and their effects are widely debated and contested in the social sciences today. Nevertheless, these processes are said to be qualitatively different from earlier forms of international exchange in that they are more complex, intense and volatile. They are also believed to be fostering a historically unique interdependence between the people and nations of the world that will ultimately result in the integration of economies and societies. Of course, this interpretation has been disputed and an alternative view that defines globalization as no more than the acceleration of historic patterns of international exchange has also been formulated. Different interpretations of the nature of global change reflect different disciplinary social science perspectives. While economists view globalization as the creation of a world economic market, sociologists place more emphasis on the role of international social relations, communications and population movements in fostering space-time compression, post-modernity and cultural diffusion. In turn, political scientists stress the way power relations operate internationally to foster new systems of global regulation and governance. These diverse disciplinary perspectives have different normative implications that not only evaluate globalization differently but inspire different policy perspectives on how the process of globalization might and should be molded. These normative dimensions are of obvious interest to scholars in the fields of social policy and social work. However, as will be shown, different social science interpretations reach very different conclusions about globalization's consequences for welfare and justice. This article outlines four major perspectives which offer different analytical and normative insights into this issue and then considers the social welfare and social justice implications of these different perspectives. But first, it provides a brief discussion of the emergence of the concept of globalization and its social science usage.

Global warming is worldwidely experienced climatic phenomenon; but the question is, is it really that serious? Global warming has been a major issue as a result of industrialization as well as human progress since the past few decades. Studies, as illustrated by D’Silva, have revealed that the amount of sunspots in a particular area directly affects the amount of time taken by the nearby earth to cool (para, 1). As a result of this flax, the earth, land, and ocean’s atmospheric temperatures increase drastically (Sinha p, 89). The slow tilting of the axis of the earth is also believed to have some negative effects on the climate. This tilting causes the sun to be positioned at different angles than normal, thereby causing it to hit the icebergs. The most significant cause of global warming is the greenhouse effect (Sinha p, 91). Green house effect is the increase in earth’s surface temperature as a result of infrared radiation from the atmosphere. Green house effect has led to an in crease in the atmospheric temperature by about 24%. Increase in carbon dioxide is the main factor that results in greenhouse effect (Gupta p, 8). Methane is the other gas that is linked to global warming. The other factor that may lead to global warming is solar variations; these are the changes that occur in the quantity of radiant energy emitted by the sun. Rapid industrialization is the other factor, in addition to natural causes, that result in an increase in global warming presently. Global warming is believed to have first been experienced about 8,000 years ago with the start of agriculture (Maslin p, 40). Forests were cleared, a factor that increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Industrialization is believed to increase the release of gases, including carbon dioxide and methane, which lead to global warming to the atmosphere. Forests are cleared in order to establish industries. Cutting down of trees results in an increase in the amount of carbon in the atmosphere as trees contain a very high quantity of carbon. Burning of fuel fossils is the other humankind activity that increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and, thus an increase in global warming. Over the past two decades the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that results in global warming has increased by about 80% (D’Silva para, 5). Although global warming is believed to cause numerous negative environmental effects, it is hard to link specific conditions to global warming. It is also hard to tell whether the link between the global warming and the tremendous global effects attributed to it are true. The former vice president of the United States, Al Gore, was highly criticized for publishing work that many claimed over exaggerated the effects of global warming for political gains (Harmon p, 41). However, the effects of global warming are dangerous and real. The two major effects of global warming are increase in the atmospheric temperature by approximately 3Â ° to 5Â ° C, and the rise of sea level by about 25 meters (Roleff p, 54). Increase in global temperatures result in a wide range of changes including rise in sea levels as a result of thermal expansion of the ocean, along with melting of the land ice. The numbers as well as the patterns of climatic phenomenon predictions are changing at a very high rate as a result of global warming (Maslin p, 45). The total power of hurricanes has increased as a result of global warming; this is due to the increase in their average intensity and duration. Extreme changes in temperature and patterns of prediction increase the frequency, duration, and magnitude of other climatic events such as floods, tornadoes, heat waves as well as draughts (Roleff p, 68). Hurricanes as well as other storms are likely to become more and more intense if the current rate of global warming is not checked (Gupta p, 16). This leaves a lot of people as well as animals which rely on it for drinking water and power production without a source. Scientists argue that the sea will become more acidic as a result of taking up more carbon dioxide (Schneider p, 79). Psychoanalysis of Iago Essay

In William Shakespeare’s play, Othello, the character Iago lacks a superego which allowed his id to run free and this caused him to lack any form of sympathy and to become a sociopath. This led to him hurting everyone he could and to his eventual downfall. He also tried to justify his actions throughout the play to reinforce his righteous ego. First to understand Iago and his actions we must look at what the id, ego, and superego actually are. According to Freud these are different divisions that make up your mind. The id is the primitive side of your mind. Its only purpose is to seek out and obtain pleasure. The id will do anything it has to obtain it goals no matter how amoral or dangerous its actions may seem. Freud states that the superego is the complete opposite of the id. The superego’s goal is to apply moral values to obtain one’s wishes. The superego imposes guilt, shame, self-doubt, and anxiety to control one’s actions. The ego is the section of your mind you are most aware of. The ego’s goal is to compromise between the two other sections by using logic. It tries to satisfy both the id and the superego. Sometimes the ego becomes overwhelmed and to protect itself it must deploys defense mechanisms. This relates to Iago because he lacks a superego which tells him right from wrong. Since his superego is no longer functioning the ego does not have to compromise between the two sides. However his ego is not useless it still has a purpose. It uses logic to get what his id wants that’s why Iago always has a plan to obtain what he desires and it also justifies his actions. His ego also justifies his actions so he can live with himself. Therefore Iago’s id and ego are operating as they should and it is his superego that is absent. Without a superego and left with his id in control, Iago has all of the traits of a sociopath according to the American Psychiatric Association’s diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders. The first trait that Iago has in common with a sociopath is deception. Iago constantly lies throughout the novel to just about everyone he meets. One example of this is when he is speaking with Montano and he says, â€Å"Tis evenmore the prolongue to his sleep. He’ll watch the horologe a double set If drink rock not his cradle.†(Othello II, III, 89). In this quote Othello is trying to spread a  rumor about Cassios’s drinking problem. Except Cassio does not have one. Iago is trying to ruin Cassio’s reputation. This example also leads to another trait of Iago’s which is his conning and manipulation. Like deception Iago uses manipulation throughout the play. For example Iago is talking to Roderigo and he says, â€Å"Thou art sure of me. Go, make money. I have told tee often, and I re-tell thee again and again, I hate the Moor. My cause is hearted. Thine hath no less reason.†(Othello I, III, 53). In this quote he is trying to convince Roderigo that he into giving him all of his money because they share the same cause. However Iago is just trying to use Roderigo to obtain money. The final trait Iago has is that he lacks empathy and he lacks remorse. I excellent example of this is when Iago’s wife, Emilia, is about to illuminate Iago’s plan to ruin Othello. Iago stabbed Emilia, his wife, before she could elaborate and later on she died from her wounds. Iago felt no remorse for the death of his wife and showed no empathy towards her when he stabbed her. Sociopaths are very capable of self – control. Like Iago they use logic to take calculated risks and to blend in with society. Iago does this throughout the novel which is why he was known as honest Iago because he blended in so well that no one suspected that he was committing any amoral acts. Most of Iago’s actions throughout the novel can be associated with calculation, deception, Manipulation, and lack of empathy and remorse. These are the traits of a sociopath therefore Iago can be considered a sociopath. Iago’s traits and actions would cause most people to become guilt ridden even without a superego. However Iago does not because his ego deploys a defense mechanism. This mechanism is called rationalization. Iago makes up excuses and justifications for his actions. For example the whole point of him trying to make Othello jealous was to get Cassio fired. He felt that he was more deserving of Cassio’s position however once he has the position he continues to try to ruin Othello’s life. He also justified his actions against Othello by telling himself that Othello slept with his wife however this was just a rumor and was never proven. He justifications is how he is able to able to live with the things he had done. The plot of this entire novel is based on Iago’s sociopathic traits. Without any of these traits the plot of this novel would dramatically change. Iago is a direct cause for  most of the events in the novel such as Othello becoming suspicious of Desdemona or the deaths of some of the characters. Without these traits Iago would no longer act like a sociopath and therefore he would no longer be the antagonist. The character Iago is very much a sociopath. He lacks sympathy for others and will take advantage of them given the chance. His lack of a superego accounts for this because his id is allowed to run free without any restrictions. This leaves his ego to justify his actions and to make calculated decisions to satisfy the id without getting caught. However his id’s desires eventually lead to his and everyone else’s downfall.
